Welcome to SA. We’re about cool sh*t… mostly related to offsec.
Jason:
Hola. My name is Jason and I started this blog sometime in 2008. At first it was just a place for regurgitating others content but as I grew up in the industry it became more of a place to share ideas, tricks, post perspective, rage, etc. I’ve worked at various companies but now I am currently at HP on their Application Security Center team. Lot’s of webpen… real webpeb not just WebInspect >:( My 1st love was netpen but as with all external pentests you always end up popping web vulns. I’ve been doing IT stuff since I was little and hacking since about 19 (pretty late to the game I know). I do a metric f*ckton of research, like unhealthy amounts. I go to cons that are close to the west coast. I have a lot of smart friends spread out over many consultancies doing pentests. Sometimes I R a complete n00b, other times I can really break some some stuff. I have some certs… I know, I know. I’m a big believer in OSINT and Post Exploitation because let’s face it… you can only pop so many unpatched systems. It’s all about what you do with that. Before real hacking I was an identity theft researcher so I know a ton about forging legit looking credentials (badges, IDs, official documents, etc ). This has come in handy a few times for red-team-type tests. I write here and occasionally ethicalhacker.net ++
Mike (aka LiX & Laz3r):
This is an attempt at a half decent bio. I’m basically just going to re-write everything Jason did in the “place holder”. I ended up here at SA after responding to a Call-to-arms that Jason made on the EthicalHacker.net forums. Jason was kind enough to let a new guy to the community like myself help out and make some posts. It’s been a while since I’ve been around SA, but I’m very glad to be back. During my hiatus, I started producing the Exotic Liability Podcast and also began working as a Network Pentester for Trustwave’s SpiderLabs. In everything I do, I try my best to act a sponge; soaking up everything around me, but with a little squeeze, spill it back out. My goal is to be as helpful to others, as others have been to me.
James:
Hey there, security community. My name is James and I’ve been involved in computer security for a few years now. I got my start at my community college as the team captain of our CCDC team as well as the President of our computer security club. I currently work for Joe McCray as a Security Researcher/Pentester/Instructor/Project Manager. I am responsible for all course ware development and had the pleasure of being able to assist Joe in teaching the Advanced Penetration Tester course at several security conferences. I am far from 1337 and still consider myself a rookie. So if you have a neat link or anything you find cool, send it my way!

so I can’t seem to find a good way to contact you guys, so here it goes. I have spent a lot of time on the internet trying to learn about pen testing lately, but it seems as if I am not getting anywhere. Are there any books you recommend or maybe somewhere else you would advise me to go to get a start in the ethical hacking world?
Thanks a lot!!
